The center has its own in-house, one-of-a-kind eye bank in northwest Mexico. The eye bank is devoted to processing corneal tissue for transplantation. The tissues are tested to ensure they adhere to the safety and quality standards set by the center.

The eye bank was licensed in 2011 and allows the center to give enhanced care to corneal transplant patients.

First Bladeless Cataract Surgery Equipment

Vision Mendez Institute is the first eye surgery center in Mexico to have bladeless cataract surgery equipment – LenSx. Approved by the FDA, it allows ophthalmologists to perform cataract surgery with greater precision.

The Laser procedure is safer than manual surgery and allows for faster recovery. LenSx utilizes integrated optical coherence tomography (OCT) measurements and data that result in higher resolution and accurate imaging.

Since each human eye is unique in terms of size, depth, and corneal curvature, LenSx technology allows for an individualized surgical approach.
