My name is Joseph Muhamet and I am from Seattle, Washington. I came to Mexico for weight loss surgery. And I had Dr.Gonzalez as my surgeon and everything went great.

Why did you choose Tijuana for weight loss surgery?

Well, price first of. And I had several friends that had used Medical Tourism and they recommended it. They said that it was a great experience and a better value. So I decided this was the place for me to change my life. A lot of the surgeons wouldn’t do surgery on my size. They wanted me to lose a 150 pounds before they would do the surgery and if I could have lost a 150 pounds, I would not be having weight loss surgery. So that was another key factor. I had to lose weight but not as much.

What made you choose Med. Tourism Co. (MTC) over a different company?

I looked at several companies in and around Tijuana. Well, again several friends used Med Tourism Co. But I liked how personal, I felt, when I spoke with Cyrel that everything was personal. I sent emails and got back emails the same day. It didn’t feel like a business. It felt like the employees at Med. Tourism Co. actually cared about me getting better.

How was the service provided by MTC once you arrived in TJ?

It was fantastic. I couldn’t ask for a better experience. I will be honest, you know. It is Mexico, so I hear a lot of things and I had a lot of people saying – “Oh my God! You are going to go to Mexico and have major surgery.” And when I got on the plane flying to San Diego, I was scared but literally from the minute I got off the plane, everybody’s been awesome, caring. If I have a need, it is met. So everything has been great. I would not trade this experience for anything.

What did you think of the doctors?

He is by far the best surgeon I have ever dealt with. He speaks good English first of. I didn’t expect that. He is funny and he knows what he is doing. It’s not some fly-by-night surgeon. You know he’s done this. He knows what he is doing. He is confident about what he does. The staff at the hospital was amazing.

Anytime I pushed the button, if you are from the US you push the button and there is a speaker and they ask you over the speaker: “What do you want?” And it may take 10, 15, 20 minutes to bring you something. I pushed the button, and you know it could be something small – “Can you just pick this up for me? Can you help me with this?” They were always there within 30 seconds to find out what I needed and get me help.

Was the hospital up to US standards? 

Super clean you know. When you go back to Mexico and you have a mental image and it’s a hospital! I mean there is nothing fancy. It is a hospital room. For what I remember of the operating room it was super clean when I went into the operating room. All the two minutes I remember before I went to sleep. Yeah, it was a great facility and I couldn’t ask for better in the States.

How was the hotel booked by MTC for your stay?

Hotel is very nice. Very, very nice. Comfortable beds. The staff here, again you know this is just the hotel and the staff has been great. Always attentive whenever I call them for room service. It’s amazing like that. So it’s been great.

What do you think of your destination manager?

Karen is phenomenal! I mean I sent emails at 9 o’clock at night and I still got a response – “let me work on that.” She was by my side the whole way through – all the way until I went into the operating room. And then as soon as I was awake enough to realize what’s going on, there was Karen. Always there. So much appreciated. I can’t say enough!

Would you recommend Med Tourism Co.?

Absolutely! I am still looking into a couple of years down the road after I lose most of my body weight I plan on coming back and using Med Tourism Co. for the surgeon to have the skin removal.
