Transcript of Interview with Dr Lugo - Dentist in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico I am Dr Lugo, and I am originally from Guadalajara, Mexico. I studied in the University of Guadalajara. I did part of my training in Mexico City and part of it in the United States. I have been certified by different companies from United States as an expert in the dental area. One of the companies I worked for is Nobel Biocare. Keystone Dental has also certified me as a special surgeon for dental maintenance procedures. People come to our clinic in Tijuana, Mexico from all over the United States. We have patients from Europe also. 98% of our patients are from the United States. One of the things that we emphasize on is to have dental equipment that is up-to-date. Our facilities are 100% up-to-date. Our sterilization is perfect. We have bands showing that everything is sterile. Whichever’s plastic is disposable. We work in exactly the same way as any dental clinic in the US. Our goal is to be up-to-date in the latest technology and procedures, and have good sterilization practices. In the area of dental implants, I have been working for more than eight years. We have placed more than 2,000 implants. We work with a very high success rate, which is close to 97-98%. In trying to be totally up-to-date, we now have a computerized guidance system for dental implants. When the patient comes into our office, we do a scan of the patient. The scan is then fed to software which helps us plan out the implant. With the help of this guidance system, implants are placed perfectly. This is the latest in implants which everybody’s practicing to achieve perfect implants and cosmetic function. In mouth restorations, we do restoration with one implant or restoration of the whole mouth. We have worked with patients who have suffered accidents and need bone graft, bone implant placement, or dentures. We work with all types of restorations and also do cosmetic dentistry procedures like veneers. Tijuana is a very beautiful city. There are things that go on here like any other part or city of the world. We are a block… not even a block, we are 50 feet away from the US embassy. It is a very safe place. Tijuana is a very friendly and warm city. You can come here and party, do many things. We’ll give you the best when you come down here.
